SPUTNIK NEWS – August 25, 2018: The article highlights that according to the Russian Defense Ministry, militants arriving in Syria’s Idlib after undergoing training by UK private military company Olive.
The Russian Defense Ministry has accused the United States, the United Kingdom and France of preparing to carry out new strikes against Syria under the pretext of chemical weapons use by the Syrian government forces.
The Western countries’ actions in spite of their public statements are aimed at another sharp deterioration of the situation in the Middle East region and the disruption of the peace process on the territory of Syria,” ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov noted.
According to the spokesman, militants in the Idlib province are preparing to stage the use of chemical weapons against civilians by the government.
To carry out the alleged “chemical attack” in the city of Jisr al-Shughur in the province of Idlib, the Tahrir al-Sham group (affiliated with the Jabhat Nusra* terror organization) militants had delivered 8 tankers with chlorine… to a village a few kilometers from Jisr al-Shughur,” the general stated.
For this purpose, USS The Sullivans destroyer with 56 cruise missiles on board arrived in the Persian Gulf several days ago, while a US В-1В bomber carrying 24 air-to-surface AGM-158 JASSM cruise missiles was deployed at Al Udeid air base in Qatar, the spokesman suggested.
This provocation with the active participation of the British special services will serve as another pretext for the US, UK and France to conduct a missile strike on the Syrian government and economic facilities,” Konashenkov said.
A group of militants trained under the guidance by British private military company Olive to work with poisonous substances has arrived in Idlib, the ministry said.
The militants are tasked with imitating the rescue of the victims of chemical weapons’ use in the vestments of the notorious White Helmets,” Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov noted.
According to Konashenkov, “unfounded” statements vowing to respond to chemical weapons’ use by the Syrian government made by a number of high-ranking representatives of the US, UK and France serve as indirect evidence of the preparation of another “act of aggression against Syria by the United States and its allies.”
On August 23, National Security Adviser John Bolton reportedly told Russian Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev that America is prepared to respond with the greater force it has used in Syria before.

Ex-US Intel Officers Warn Trump Over Syria Attack: ‘Don’t Be Surprised When the Russians Start Firing Their Missiles’
RUSSIA INSIDER / BATTLE FOR WORLD – September 15, 2018: The article highlights to President Trump that “We know that your advisers tend to be dangerously dismissive of Russian capabilities and intentions”.
“Russian missile-armed naval and air units are now deployed in unprecedented numbers to engage those tempted to interfere with Syrian and Russian forces trying to clean out the terrorists from Idlib”
MEMORANDUM FOR: The President
FROM: Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity
SUBJECT: Moscow Has Upped the Ante in Syria
We are concerned that you may not have been adequately briefed on the upsurge of hostilities in northwestern Syria, where Syrian armed forces with Russian support have launched a full-out campaign to take back the al-Nusra/al-Qaeda/ISIS-infested province of Idlib. The Syrians will almost certainly succeed, as they did in late 2016 in Aleppo. As in Aleppo, it will mean unspeakable carnage, unless someone finally tells the insurgents theirs is a lost cause.
That someone is you. The Israelis, Saudis, and others who want unrest to endure are egging on the insurgents, assuring them that you, Mr. President, will use US forces to protect the insurgents in Idlib, and perhaps also rain hell down on Damascus. We believe that your senior advisers are encouraging the insurgents to think in those terms, and that your most senior aides are taking credit for your recent policy shift from troop withdrawal from Syria to indefinite war.
Big Difference This Time
Russian missile-armed naval and air units are now deployed in unprecedented numbers to engage those tempted to interfere with Syrian and Russian forces trying to clean out the terrorists from Idlib. We assume you have been briefed on that — at least to some extent. More important, we know that your advisers tend to be dangerously dismissive of Russian capabilities and intentions.
We do not want you to be surprised when the Russians start firing their missiles. The prospect of direct Russian-U.S. hostilities in Syria is at an all-time high. We are not sure you realize that.
The situation is even more volatile because Kremlin leaders are not sure who is calling the shots in Washington. This is not the first time that President Putin has encountered such uncertainty (see brief Appendix below). This is, however, the first time that Russian forces have deployed in such numbers into the area, ready to do battle. The stakes are very high.
We hope that John Bolton has given you an accurate description of his acerbic talks with his Russian counterpart in Geneva a few weeks ago. In our view, it is a safe bet that the Kremlin is uncertain whether Bolton faithfully speaks in your stead, or speaks INSTEAD of you.
The best way to assure Mr. Putin that you are in control of U.S. policy toward Syria would be for you to seek an early opportunity to speak out publicly, spelling out your intentions. If you wish wider war, Bolton has put you on the right path.
If you wish to cool things down, you may wish to consider what might be called a pre-emptive ceasefire. By that we mean a public commitment by the Presidents of the U.S. and Russia to strengthen procedures to preclude an open clash between U.S. and Russian armed forces. We believe that, in present circumstances, this kind of extraordinary step is now required to head off wider war.

‘Chlorine delivered’: Idlib militants ‘readying false flag attack’ in Syrian village – Russian MoD
RT – September 15, 2018: Militants in Syria’s Idlib have transported several canisters containing chlorine to the village of Bsanqul, apparently preparing to stage a false flag chemical attack, the Russian Defense Ministry has said.
The chlorine-filled canisters were delivered by the Al-Qaeda-affiliated militants of Tahrir al Sham, formerly known as Al-Nusra Front, a spokesman of the Russian Center for Reconciliation in Syria, Lieutenant General Vladimir Savchenko, said in a statement Saturday. He added that the latest developments showed that the militants are preparing for a false flag attack that would be used to accuse the Syrian government of using chemical weapons against its people.
This is the latest warning from the Russian military on what it says is a chemical “provocation” in the making. On Wednesday, it said the White Helmets group has shot videos intended to be used in framing the Syrian government. Earlier, the MoD said toxic chemicals had been delivered Idlib and accused the White Helmets of carrying out the delivery.
The US and its allies have so far dismissed the Russian warnings, but said that the government in Damascus might instead be preparing chemical attacks against civilians. Moscow has suggested that the attack might be prepared with the support of Washington, which wants to justify further air strikes against Syria. Those planned strikes are said to be much larger in scale than those launched against the Syrian military by the US, the UK and France in April.
SPUTNIK NEWS – September 11, 2018: The article highlights that the Russian Center for Syrian Reconciliation reported, all the fake footage of “chemical attacks,” designed to facilitate the implication of Syrian government forces, is expected to be sent to different TV channels before the end of the day.
According to the information received from inhabitants of Idlib province, militants are now filming a staged provocation in the city of Jisr al-Shugur, where “chemical weapons” are depicted as being used by the Syrian army against civilians. The film crews of several Middle Eastern TV channels arrived in Jisr al-Shugur in the morning, as well as the regional affiliate of one of the main American television news networks,” the Reconciliation Center said.
“The plot envisages staged scenes showing ‘activists’ from the Civil Defense (“White Helmets”) ‘helping’ the residents of Jisr al-Shughur after the Syrian army allegedly used the so-called barrel bombs with poisonous substances,” the center said.
RT – September 10, 2018: The article highlights that the Netherlands has decided to end its support to militants in Syria, since the program did not yield “expected” results. The move comes as journalists found one of the groups had been labeled as terrorists by the country itself.
“The opportunity to quickly change the situation [in Syria] is extremely small,” reads the letter the lower house of the parliament by Dutch Foreign Minister Stef Blok and Minister for Foreign Trade Sigrid Kaag, announcing the end of support programs for the militants in Syria.
The program to support of “moderate” anti-government groups in Syria was established in close cooperation with “like-minded donors who pursued the same goals as the Netherlands” and cost the country over $80 million (some €80 million) over the years, according to the document. It failed to “bring the expected results,” however, and is to be closed since the Syrian troops “will soon win” the war against militant groups.
Over the years, the Netherlands allocated $29 million (€25 million) to the so-called “non-lethal assistance” (NLA) program, $14.5 million (€12.5 million) were donated to the so-called White Helmets and $17.1 million (€14,8 million) went to the Access to Justice and Community Service (AJACS) program. The AJACS was supposedly designed to support “community police” work in Syria, specifically the so-called Free Syrian Police (FSP) group.
The support for militants is set to end immediately, yet the White Helmets will be funded until December, according to the document. Since the White Helmets now operate only in the Idlib province, which is believed to be the destination of the looming offensive by the Syrian Army and its allies, their future is quite doubtful, the document states.
SPUTNIK NEWS – September 10, 2018: The article highlights that Syria’s northwestern Idlib province is the last remaining stronghold of militant and terror groups in the country. President Bashar Assad sees the liberation of Idlib as a topmost priority.
The US is mulling air and missile strikes on Syrian government forces if they use chlorine gas in their operation to liberate Idlib.
The US strikes could also target Russia and Iranian positions in the area, the Wall Street Journal wrote on Sunday (September 9).
Targeting Russian Forces?
The article added that the Pentagon may be crafting military options, but President Trump hasn’t decided yet what exactly would trigger a military response or whether the US would target Russian or Iranian military forces aiding Assad in Syria.
The WSJ added that Washington has not yet decided whether the use of chlorine gas could necessitate US airstrikes on Assad’s forces.
SPUTNIK NEWS – September 14, 2018: The article highlights that while speaking on the House floor on September 13, Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard accused the Trump administration of protecting al-Qaeda terrorists in Idlib. According to the congresswoman, this amounts to the betrayal of the American people and victims of al-Qaeda’s 9/11 attacks in the US.
(BattleForWorld: The public must keep in mind that President Trump is being pressured by the Deep-State [i.e. The Military Industrial Complex formed long ago by the ruling elites bent on world domination]. President Obama was also manipulated and could not do much to help America in humanitarian ways after he succumbed to pressure like Trump, where Obama had to fulfill world domination agendas. And here Trump is moving along that path. But for how long?)
Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) called out President Donald Trump and Vice President Pence for allegedly protecting al-Qaeda* in Idlib, Syria, while speaking in the House on September 13.
Two days ago, President Trump and Vice President Pence delivered solemn speeches about the attacks on 9/11, talking about how much they care about the victims of al-Qaeda’s attack on our country. But, they are now standing up to protect the 20,000 to 40,000 al-Qaeda and other jihadist forces in Syria, and threatening Russia, Syria, and Iran, with military force if they dare attack these terrorists,” the congresswoman stressed.
Russia Says Has to React to Aggression as Terrorists Entrench Positions in Idlib
SPUTNIK NEWS – September 10, 2018: The article highlights that a gang of terrorists has taken advantage of the establishment of a de-escalation zone in Syria’s Idlib province and entrenched their positions in the region, Russia cannot but respond to their aggression, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov told Sputnik in an interview.
A gang of terrorists has taken advantage of the fact that a de-escalation zone had been established in Idlib and entrenched their positions there, they have increased their ranks and begun raids against the civilian population of Syria, attacks on the Russian bases … We cannot but react to such aggression,” Syromolotov said.
“As regards the parameters of counter-terrorist operations in Idlib, such operations are generally planned carefully and secretly with the participation of all parties, neither the military nor diplomats talk about such things publicly,” he said.
Staged Gas Attacks & US Shortcomings: US Senator Tells Sputnik About Syria Trip
SPUTNIK NEWS – September 10, 2018: The article highlights that US Senator Richard Black in an exclusive interview with Sputnik, revealed how the Syrian people see their president, what went wrong with the US policy in the Mideast and also expressed his admiration for the state of human rights in the country, as “Syria has the greatest women’s rights and the greatest religious freedoms of any Arab country.”
Black, a Republican member of the Virginia State Senate, has recently returned from Syria, where he met with Syrian President Bashar Assad and discussed recent developments in the country.
WSJ – September 10, 2018: The article highlights that President Bashar al-Assad of Syria has approved the use of chlorine gas in an offensive against the country’s last major rebel stronghold, U.S. officials said, raising the prospects for another retaliatory U.S. military strike as thousands try to escape what could be a decisive battle in the seven-year-old war.
(BattleForWorld: Here we go again. The West using militants and White Helmets to stage chemical attacks in Syria to use as pretext for US-UK-Europe bombing campaign. Expect the news media to push video footage by the White Helmets showing the chemical attack. The West refuses to withdraw militant fighters from Idlib and hope that a staged chemical attack will prompt the bombing of Syria’s government forces.)
In a recent discussion about Syria, people familiar with the exchange said, President Trump threatened to conduct a massive attack against Mr. Assad if he carries out a massacre in Idlib, the northwestern province that has become the last refuge for more than three million people and as many as 70,000 opposition fighters that the regime considers to be terrorists.
SPUTNIK NEWS – September 8, 2018: The article highlights that terrorists in the rebel-held Syrian city of Idlib have almost completed their preparations for a provocation involving chemical weapons, chief spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Defense Major General Igor Konashenkov stated Saturday (September 8).
(BattleForWorld: And the Russian government said that the re-energized saga concerning the Sergei Skripal “Novichok” poisoning in Salisbury was timed with the chemical provocation in Syria. And I guess the reason is to keep the event current in the minds of the unsuspecting public. Read about the motive behind the British and allies contriving the Novichok story to attack Russia.)
According to the general, leaders of the terrorist group Tahrir al-Sham*, the Turkistan Islamic Movement and representatives of the White Helmets met in Idlib on September 7 in order to coordinate their participation in the upcoming false flag operation.
The scenarios for the filming of staged ‘incidents’ with the alleged use of poisonous substances by Syrian government troops against civilians in the settlements of Jisr Al-Shugur, Serakab, Taftanaz, and Sarmin were finally agreed upon during the meeting. The full readiness of all participants involved in carrying out staged provocations should be ensured by the evening of September 8. The signal for the beginning of the practical phase of the terrorists’ provocation in the province of Idlib will be a special team from some ‘foreign friends of the Syrian revolution’,” Konashenkov said.
RT – September 9, 2018: The article highlights that a number of Syrian state and media-linked YouTube accounts have gone dark, as the battle for Idlib looms, amid Russia’s warnings of an imminent false-flag chemical attack and Western preparations for retaliatory strikes.
On Saturday (September 8) afternoon, the channels belonging to the Syrian Presidency, the country’s Ministry of Defense, and SANA news all showed a message saying: “This account has been terminated due to a legal complaint” or “This account has been terminated for a violation of YouTube’s Terms of Service.”
The Damascus-based Sama TV‘s channel on YouTube also appeared to be taken down, with a message reading: “This page isn’t available. Sorry about that. Try searching for something else.”

While YouTube has yet to issue a comment on the matter, it appears that Syrian channels went offline sometime on Saturday morning, just as Gen. Joseph Dunford warned that Pentagon is preparing and keeping Donald Trump informed about “military options” for retaliation in case “chemical weapons are used” in Syria.
SPUTNIK NEWS – September 9, 2018: The article highlights that Pierre Le Corf, founder of the NGO “WeAreSuperHeroes,” who has been living in Syria’s Aleppo for over 2 years, has offered some insight into the escalating situation in Idlib, terrorists’ last stronghold, in an interview with Sputnik France.
In light of the Syrian government’s preparations for a large-scale military operation in the rebel-held province of Idlib, the founder of the NGO “WeAreSuperHeroes,” Pierre Le Corf, has told Sputnik that he fears a fresh provocation from militants.
According to Le Corf, terrorists’ principal aim is to prompt a Western intervention – something that would exacerbate the chaos in Syria, which has been engulfed in a civil war for over seven years.
It will not be just a battle [in Idlib]. This is the last chance for Western forces (including my country, France) to interfere in the situation in Syria, to find an excuse to be able to start off a more global conflict. […] The day when the battle for Idlib is over, the coalition – Europe and the US – will lose the war in Syria, this will be the end. ”
RT – September 6, 2018: The article highlights: Russia has denied allegations that its military intelligence officers were behind the Skripal poisoning in Britain and suggested that the UK government timed its accusations to a potential upcoming false flag attack in Syria’s Idlib.
(BattleForWorld: According to a very well-informed source of high placement, the Sergei Skripal case involving the ‘Novichok’ nerve agent was totally manufactured by British elements. And the reason given, according to the source, is as follows: “…It became clear that this poison attack is based on a far-reaching sneaky machination and malicious intrigue of the *** who are in the service of ***. The instigated event reinforce the unscrupulous and traditional hostility and hatred toward Russia by the Western states and revives it, as it has always been the case even during the times of the Soviet Union and throughout the Cold War. [i.e. The instigated event by the British is to incite propaganda news on an international scale.] And the fact that betrayal is also being committed in this way against the Russian state itself is not recognized without understanding or reason. The mastermind of this intrigue *** is not aware of the scope of its actions, because of its lack of intelligence does not allow it. The attack on Sergei Skripal and his daughter, was carried out by ***, is founded in an insidious and malicious manner by *** by *** and *** and is thus very stupid, which seeks to damage Russia and President Putin, just as it also damages Russia itself. First and foremost, however, this matter gives President Vladimir Putin, as well as the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Sergei Lavrov, no chance in the Western world, but also the Russian ambassador to the UN, and others, which may also result in the state of Russia itself being completely isolated from the entire West. [CR706]” End of source’s comment. *** = omission by source. So the entire event is a deliberate internationally planned propaganda campaign against Russia and its government.)

On Thursday (September 6), the UK gave an update to the UN Security Council on its investigation of the poisoning attack on former double agent Sergei Skripal in Salisbury in May. Karen Pierce, the British representative to the UN, summed up the statements given on the previous days by the British investigators and Prime Minister Theresa May on the case. She reiterated the claim that the two suspects in the case were officers of the GRU, Russia’s military intelligence agency, based on classified intelligence available to the British government.
Her Russian counterpart, Vasily Nebenzya, called the allegations “a cocktail of lies” and denied any involvement of the Russian state in the Skripal saga. The Russian diplomat said the promised breakthrough in the case turned out to be disappointing for Russia and simply followed a pattern of baseless accusations against Moscow by the British side.
He said the British…itself stated that the two suspects most likely used aliases when entering Britain, which begs the question why they were called Russian nationals, yet alone agents of the Russian government. The British authorities, he added, refused to hand over to Russia the information they have on the suspects, including their fingerprints, which they must have provided to get a visa. The fingerprints, obviously, would have made identifying those individuals much easier, Nebenzya said, adding that apparently London is not interested in finding out who the suspects are.
SPUTNIK NEWS – September 9, 2018: The article highlights that the deployment of the submarine was preceded by a build-up in US naval forces in the region, which took place amid warnings issued by the Russian Defense Ministry about planned provocations using chemical weapons in Syria. The last such provocation triggered joint airstrikes by the US, UK and France against Damascus.
British Trafalgar-class nuclear submarine the HMS Talent sailed into Gibraltar on September 8, the Gibraltar Chronicle reported, posting a picture of the vessel. The submarine has the capacity to carry up to 30 Tomahawk cruise missiles, capable of hitting ground targets.
The submarine was refitted in June, after which it partook in operational sea training. The Royal Navy hasn’t issued any info on the HMS Talent’s current objectives in the Mediterranean.

US, France, Germany and Canada back Britain, pledge action over Salisbury poisoning assessment
RT – September 6, 2018: The United States, France, Germany and Canada on Thursday (September 6) backed Britain’s assessment that Russian officers were behind a nerve agent attack on a former Russian spy Sergey Skripal and his daughter Yulia and pledged further action, Reuters reports. The previous day, Britain charged two Russians in absentia with the attempted murder, saying the suspects were military intelligence officers almost certainly acting on orders from high up in the Russian state.
In a joint statement with Britain, the nations urged Russia to provide “full disclosure of its Novichok program.” The Kremlin on Thursday denied that Russia had been in any way involved in the poisoning, describing British accusations that an attack had been approved by senior Russian officials as “unacceptable.”
Authors of Skripal saga are good storytellers, says Lavrov
TASS – September 7, 2018: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov thinks that authors of different versions concerning the Skripal poisoning in the UK are good storytellers, he told journalists on Thursday.
“Yes, [they are good storytellers],” the minister agreed with the journalists, who asked him to give his opinion on Theresa May’s address to the UK Parliament, in which she accused two Russian citizens of being involved in the crime.
The journalists then asked Lavrov where the British officials get their information from, to which the minister replied: “From the Internet.”
SPUTNIK NEWS – August 29, 2018: The article highlights that the Russian top diplomat says the United States’ attempt to change the political regime in Syria has failed.
And that Washington’s efforts to carry out ‘regime change’ in Syria have failed, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday (August 29).
“This is not the first time different U.S. administrations place the task of changing the regimes they dislike above common goals of eradicating terrorism and extremism. This was in Iraq and Libya, and they are trying to do so in Syria, I would even say they tried to do so in Syria and they failed,” Lavrov stressed.
Situation in Idlib: Moscow has been maintaining contacts with Washington over the situation in Syria’s Idlib province, including a planned chemical weapons provocation, he said.
“As for our contacts with the Americans over this matter, we have been maintaining them. [US Secretary of State] Michael Pompeo touched upon this issue when he called me on the phone a few days ago. [US National Security Adviser] John Bolton brought this issue up at the Geneva meeting with [Russian Security Council Secretary] Nikolai Patrushev. The channel established between the militaries is also used to discuss this issue,” the Russian top diplomat stressed.
All talks go in the same manner – we present more and more facts confirming plans to stage a chemical weapons attack in Syria to blame it on the country’s government, while our counterparts claim that it is not true but fail to provide a single fact to back their position,” Lavrov said.
French Foreign Minister Says Assad Won War in Syria
SPUTNIK NEWS – September 2, 2018: Syria’s Foreign Minister Walid Muallem has stated that Damascus was determined to liberate the province of Idlib from terrorists.
Speaking on France-Inter radio on Sunday, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has won the country’s civil war but will not “win the peace” without a political solution aided by international mediators.
“Assad won the war, we have to state this. But he hasn’t won the peace,” Le Drian announced.
According to the minister, the West would retaliate if сhemical weapons are used against civilians in the looming battle in the province of Idlib.
SPUTNIK NEWS – September 4, 2018: The article highlights that the United States is sharing Russian concerns over the presence of terrorist groups in the Syrian province of Idlib, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told reporters.
“Many of the people who fled these other de-escalation zones fled to this location [Idlib]. There’s no place for these people to go, and the Russians have the narrative that there are terrorists in Idlib. That is a true statement. We share their concern about terrorism emanating from northern, northwest Syria. We absolutely agree with them there are terrorists in those locations and they need to be taken care of such that they don’t export terror around the world,” Pompeo said on late Tuesday (September 4).
Pompeo said that the United States hopes to settle the tensions in the province of Idlib via diplomatic means without putting lives of many civilians at risk.
(BattleForWorld: An indication that those in the West who support these terrorists in Syria’s Idlib, are trying to remove them using corridors agreed upon by Syrian and Russian militaries. And the question has to be asked, if this is the case, where are they going to transport these terrorists to? Because these Terror Wars being sparked by the West appears to be never ending with some great finale in mind.)
Chemical Delusions: Bolton Threatens Another Attack on Syria
RT – August 25, 2018: The Trump administration is threatening to bomb Syria in the event of a chemical weapons attack. This comes as the Syrian army prepares an offensive to take control of the Al-Qaeda dominated province of Idlib. RT America’s Dan Cohen reports. (Note: Youtube is censoring videos and channels. The title of the video is “Chemical Delusions: Bolton Threatens Another Attack on Syria”.)
BATTLE FOR WORLD – August 17, 2018: According to Alex Jones, on August 13 on his radio show, he believes that something big is about to happen, and he was censored because “they” want him quiet when it does happen. (Note: Youtube and other digital media are banning – censorship of Alex Jones’ videos. Youtube and Alex Jones at war. The title of the video is “Something BIG is coming, says Alex Jones”.)
SPUTNIK NEWS – September 3, 2018: The article highlights that President Trump has warned Syrian president Bashar Al-Assad against conducting a military operation in Syria’s Idlib province, which remains a stronghold of insurgency in the country.
“President Bashar al-Assad of Syria must not recklessly attack Idlib Province. The Russians and Iranians would be making a grave humanitarian mistake to take part in this potential human tragedy. Hundreds of thousands of people could be killed. Don’t let that happen!” Trump wrote on his Twitter page on Monday (September 3).
(BattleForWorld: Trump said in his Tweet, he’s worried about the potential human tragedy if Idlib is attacked. Obviously protecting the terrorists funded from the outside. I wonder if he also felt the same about what is happening in Yemen involving the Saudis attacking that country.)
SPUTNIK NEWS – August 31, 2018: The article highlights that the Syrian government is gearing up to liberate one of the last remaining strongholds of the jihadist opposition which has been ravaging the country for seven years. As the government has deposed the so-called rebel leaders from power in various cities in the country over the years, it has shipped them to Idlib.
The United Nations called on Russia, Iran and Turkey to not attack Idlib until humanitarian corridors are set up to evacuate civilians. One overlooked possibility, however, is an attack from France, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Former UK Ambassador to Syria Peter Ford published an article on Thursday (August 31) outlining just how plausible such an attack is.
“It’s three major powers about to attack, apparently, a vulnerable Middle East country, and again they’re using subterfuge, if the reports coming from Russian sources are correct. And I believe they are-that a fabricated incident involving alleged use of chemical weapons is in the works,” Ford told Radio Sputnik’s Loud & Clear hosts John Kiriakou and Brian Becker.
Lavrov says terrorists’ use of Idlib for attacks on Russian, Syrian troops unacceptable
TASS – August 30, 2018: The article highlights that Moscow has sent a clear and strong warning to the West against playing with fire in the Syrian province of Idlib, according to the top diplomat.
The situation when terrorists are using Syria’s Idlib province as a staging ground for attacks on the positions of Syrian troops and Russia’s Hmeimim air base is unacceptable, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said following talks with his Syrian counterpart Walid Muallem.
“It is unacceptable when terrorists who are gathered there, first and foremost, members of the Jabhat al-Nusra terror group [outlawed in Russia – TASS], try to use this de-escalation zone to carry out attacks on the positions of the Syrian Army and target Russia’s Hmeimim air base with drones,” Lavrov said.
Strong warning to West: Moscow has sent a clear and strong warning to the West against playing with fire in the Syrian province of Idlib, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said following talks with his Syrian counterpart Walid Muallem on Thursday.
“It is no secret that not everyone is happy with progress in resolving the Syrian issue, fighting against terrorism and creating conditions for the return of refugees,” Lavrov said. “Attempts are being made to impede these processes and use various provocateurs, including extremists and well-known provocateurs calling themselves the White Helmets, who are famous for staging chemical weapons attacks and blaming them on the Syrian government in order to provide the western countries with an excuse to carry out attacks on Syria,” the Russian top diplomat pointed out.
“Another provocation is being prepared in order to impede plans to carry out an anti-terrorist operation in Idlib,” he said. “Our Defense and Foreign Ministries presented facts to send a clear and strong warning to our western counterparts against playing with fire,” Lavrov added.
SPUTNIK NEWS – August 30, 2018: Syrian Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Walid Muallem have met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a visit to Moscow.
The visit is being held within the framework of the Syrian-Russian intergovernmental commissions.
“Russia is ready to increase its contribution to these tasks (the restoration of Syria and the solution of the issue with the return of refugees),” the minister said at a press conference following the talks with his Syrian counterpart Walid Muallem.
On Situation Around Idlib: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has called the use of the de-escalation zone in Idlib by Al-Nusra* terrorists to attack Syrian and Russian forces “unacceptable.”
It is unacceptable that the terrorists who are entrenched there, primarily from the Nusra Front [a terrorist group banned in Russia], are trying to use this de-escalation zone to prepare attacks on the positions of the Syrian army and even for attempts to attack the Russian military base in Hmeimim using aerial drones,” Lavrov said at a news conference following talks with his Syrian counterpart Walid Muallem in Moscow.
And the Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem said the following:
The White Helmets have kidnapped 44 children in Idlib to use in a staged chemical attack, according to the Syrian foreign minister.
“The US presence in Syria has not only a military aspect… Simultaneously, our American colleagues are actively developing the eastern bank of the Euphrates, restoring infrastructure there, social and economic networks and even creating quasi-state local government bodies,” he said.
“We can say that the Americans lost militarily in Syria, despite the efforts they have made, and now they want to take advantage of the moment to get any dividends through political processes and preventing the return of refugees to their homes,” Muallem told reporters.
“Behind the creation of the pseudo-organization the White Helmets, are the British special services: they sponsor them, they lead them. They were behind the organization of those fabricated scenarios for the use of chemical weapons and now they are preparing such a development of the situation with the use of chemical weapons in Idlib,” Muallem stated.
SPUTNIK NEWS – September 1, 2018: The article highlights the militants that attempted to assault the city of Palmyra claimed that they belong to the “Lions of the East” group that is stationed near a U.S. military base, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.
The militant group “Lions of the East” was set to carry out terrorist attacks in the country, capturing Syria within one week, the Russian Reconciliation Center stated.
The militants’ objective was to conduct a series of terrorist attacks in the vicinity of the city of Palmyra and to ensure the passage of the main forces of about 300 militants to capture the city within the next week,” the center’s report said.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the militants, captured by Syrian government forces, claimed that they had been trained and armed by American instructors in a camp near the U.S. military base in al-Tanf.

Chemical weapons provocation aimed at keeping terrorists in Syria – Lavrov
RT – August 30, 2018: The planned chemical weapon provocation in the Syrian province of Idlib is aimed at maintaining the presence of Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist group in the area, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said. Swiss-Made Grenades Reportedly Found in Terrorist Weapons Cache
SPUTNIK NEWS – September 2, 2018: Grenades produced by Swiss arms maker RUAG have previously been seen in photos of al-Qaeda* and Free Syrian Army fighters. The company said that the grenades could come from those that were supplied to the United Arab Emirates in 2003-2004.
Members of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham have released a photo of their trophies from a raid on a Daesh* cell in Idlib. Among the weapons found in the arms cache were several alleged OHG92 and HG85 grenades produced by the Swiss arms manufacturer RUAG, SonntagsBlick reported. At the same time, the Swiss government has not given a greenlight for weapons supplies to Syria. Moreover, it would be unable to do so under existing legislation.
A spokesman for RUAG said that the company hasn’t determined which supply the grenades come from, as the image doesn’t show their serial numbers, but confirmed that the grenades in the photo were produced by the company. Grenades of the type were supplied to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) between 2003 and 2004 and were later spotted in the hands of al-Qaeda* and Free Syrian Army fighters in 2012.
US warns Russia of new strike on Syria if Assad uses chemical weapons
TASS – August 25, 2018: The article highlights the warning was conveyed by National Security Adviser John Bolton to his Russian counterpart, Nikolai Patrushev, during their Thursday’s meeting in Geneva
The United States has warned Russia that it would be ready to strike Syria again if President Bashar Assad and his government use chemical weapons in the country, the Bloomberg news agency said on Friday citing own sources.
According to the agency’s sources, the warning was conveyed by National Security Adviser John Bolton to his Russian counterpart, Nikolai Patrushev, during their Thursday’s meeting in Geneva, Switzerland.
The agency says that Washington “has information that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad may use chemical weapons as he seeks to recapture one of the country’s last rebel-held areas” – in the northwestern Syrian province of Idlib.
During the talks with Patrushev, Bolton said the United States would respond with stronger military action that it has used in Syria in the past – in 2017 and 2018.
Russian Envoy to US: Militants to Create Provocation Idlib Aided by UK Forces
SPUTNIK NEWS – August 29: Russia is hopeful that the US government will take efforts to prevent terrorists from using chemical weapons in Syria, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said in a statement on Wednesday (August 29).
“We are hopeful that the United States will do everything in their power to prevent the use of chemical weapons by terrorists and will act responsibly,” Antonov said on Wednesday.
Antonov pointed out that Russia has also warned US officials against conducting strikes in Syria.
Syria presents UN with data proving plans for terrorist chemical weapons attack in Idlib
TASS – August 28, 2018: The article highlights that Syria’s UN envoy called on countries capable of influencing terrorists to prohibit their agents from taking any action.
Syria’s permanent mission to the United Nations has presented documents proving terrorists’ plans to carry out a chemical weapons attack in the Syrian province of Idlib and put the blame on Damascus, Syrian Permanent Representative to the UN Bashar Jaafari said at a United Nations Security Council meeting on Tuesday.
According to him, the documents make it clear that the Jabhat al-Nusra terror group (outlawed in Russia) and some other terrorists pledged readiness to use chemical weapons against civilians in Idlib in order to put the blame on Syrian authorities and justify a foreign military aggression.
The Syrian envoy said that any aggression against his country would be an aggression against a United Nations founding state, as well as against global peace and security, and would amount to supporting terrorism.
Plans for provocation: Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov told reporters on Monday that the United States was increasing the number of cruise missiles deployed to the Middle East, planning to target Syrian government troops following a staged chemical weapons attack that terrorists were about to carry out in the Idlib province. He added that “this is another proof of the United States’ intention to take advantage of an attack staged by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham militants with the support of British intelligence agencies in the Idlib province, aimed at blaming Syrian government forces for using chemical weapons.”
Russian MoD: White Helmets Preparing to Stage Chemical Attack in Idlib
SPUTNIK NEWS – August 28, 2018: The article highlights that representatives of the White Helmets group have delivered a large shipment of toxic substances to a warehouse used by Ahrar al-Sham militants in Idlib province, Maj. Gen. Alexei Tsygankov, head of the Russian Center for Syrian Reconciliation, said on Tuesday.
“According to information received by the Russian Center for reconciliation of warring parties in Syria from independent sources located in the province of Idlib, a large shipment of toxic substances, accompanied by eight representatives of the White Helmets, was delivered from the village of Afs to the settlement of Saraqib, to a warehouse used by the militants from the Ahrar al-Sham group to store weapons and fuel supplies. They were met by two high-ranking commanders from the above-mentioned illegal armed group,” Tsygankov said at a daily briefing.
“A part of this shipment in unmarked plastic barrels was later transported to another militant base in the southern part of Idlib province in order to stage a false-flag chemical attack and subsequently accuse the government forces of the use of toxic agents against civilians,” Tsygankov stressed.
TASS – August 28, 2018: The article highlights that Russia is doing the best it can to prevent a provocation involving the use of chemical weapons in Syria, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told reporters on Tuesday (August 28).
“We believe the Jabhat al-Nusra (terror group, now called Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, outlawed in Russia – TASS), which has changed its name, is now close to carrying out a very serious provocation in the Idlib area with the use of a chemical agent. All that will be filmed [by representatives of] the White Helmets [non-governmental organization]. After that, a smear campaign will begin about the use of chemical weapons by the regime [of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad] against its people, and that will be used as a pretext for a massive military strike against Syria. This scenario is so obvious that we are doing our utmost to prevent it from being implemented,” he said.
“The leadership of the United States and Germany can prevent it by joint efforts. But I doubt that Washington will be ready to seriously counter the implementation of this scheme, which is a provocation and is destructive for normalization processes in Syria,” the senior Russian diplomat said, commenting on remarks by German Chancellor Angela Merkel who said Russia should influence Damascus to prevent a humanitarian crisis in Idlib in a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump.
TASS – August 28, 2018: The article highlights that Moscow calls on Washington and Berlin to influence armed opposition groups and terrorists in Syria’s Idlib with whom they are keeping in contact, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told reporters on Tuesday (August 27).
“We want to call on colleagues in Washington and Berlin, using the opportunities that they have, to influence the armed opposition members and terrorist structures – in the latter case I’m speaking about the US, not about Germany – with which they retain contact,” the deputy foreign minister said, commenting on German Chancellor Angela Merkel and US President Donald Trump’s appeal to Moscow to influence Damascus regarding the situation in the governorate.
ZERO HEDGE – August 25, 2018: Russia is again warning of a new potential chemical provocation in Syria at the end of a week in which US National Security Advisor John Bolton threatened Damascus with a “very strong” military response should allegations emerge amidst the Syrian Army campaign to liberate Idlib.
The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) said on Saturday per state-run TASS:
A provocation with an alleged chemical weapons use in Syria, which terrorists are plotting to stage with the assistance of UK special services, will serve as a pretext for missile strikes by the West and the United States against the Arab country, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on Saturday (August 25).
According to the Russian general, the provocation will be staged by terrorists of the Hayat Tahrir ash-Sham terrorist organization (formerly known as Jabhat al-Nusra outlawed in Russia) and for this purpose eight containers with chlorine have been brought to the Idlib province.
The mention of UK special forces and “eight containers” of chlorine suggest that Russia is claiming to possess some level of specified intelligence.
The Russian MoD spokesman added, “Therefore, the actions by Western countries contrary to public statements are aimed at another dramatic escalation of the situation in the Middle East and at disrupting the peace process on the territory of Syria.”
The statements were in response to Bolton’s prior press conference on Wednesday from Jerusalem, where he was meeting with Israeli officials. “We now see plans for the Syrian regime to resume offensive military activities in Idlib province,” Bolton said. “We are obviously concerned about the possibility that Assad may use chemical weapons again.”
Bolton warned, “Just so there’s no confusion here, if the Syrian regime uses chemical weapons we will respond very strongly and they really ought to think about this a long time.”
Meanwhile Bloomberg confirmed late Friday that Bolton had personally delivered this message to his Russian counterpart Nikolai Patrushev:
U.S. officials say they have information Assad may be planning a chemical attack in the northwestern province of Idlib. At a Thursday (August 23) meeting in Geneva, National Security Adviser John Bolton told his Russian counterpart, Nikolai Patrushev, that America is prepared to respond with greater military force than it has used against Assad’s regime in the past, according to the people, who asked not to be identified because the content of talks hasn’t been publicly disclosed.
Bolton’s reported message of “greater military force” is particularly alarming given that over the past two Aprils the US has launched tomahawk missile and air attacks on Syrian government locations after chemical allegations by al-Qaeda groups battling Assad. The last involved over a hundred missiles that destroyed government locations in and around Damascus.
Sensing that Washington could be preparing another round of attacks, the Russian MoD pointed out that “the US Navy’s destroyer Sullivans with 56 cruise missiles on its board arrived in the Persian Gulf several days ago while a B-1B strategic bomber of the US Air Force armed with AGM-158 JASSM air-to-surface missiles was redeployed to the Al Udeid air base in Qatar,” according to TASS.
No wonder the west continues to fund the #WhiteHelmets. They need them for the false flag chemical attacks that they will use as a pretext to bomb #Syria. Here’s US Nat’l Security Advisor John Bolton today in Jerusalem threatening to do just that. pic.twitter.com/kWsVCgiMBh

This month Syrian and Russian air attacks and shelling began targeting al-Qaeda held Idlib in what is likely a prelude to a full-scale ground offensive.
The “rebel” coalition in control of this major “final holdout” is but the latest incarnation of al-Qaeda, calling itself Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and has held the province, the capital city of which is Idlib city, since a successful Western and Gulf ally sponsored attack on the area in 2015.
The Russian MoD spokesman specifically identified HTS as the group planning to stage a chemical attack to blame in on Assad’s forces.
During Bolton’s prior comments before reporters in Jerusalem, he appeared to boast about prior US airstrikes on Syrian government forces, referencing the Tomahawk missile strikes over the past two Aprils — the first of which was in response to sarin gas attack claims made by HTS and the White Helmets in Khan Sheikhoun, which is in Idlib.
To this day the international chemical investigative body and watchdog, the OPCW, has yet to visit the site due to its being controlled by al-Qaeda forces, citing that such an on-site investigation is too dangerous.
TASS – August 25, 2018: The article highlights that the US and its allies already used terrorists’ provocations in the past as a pretext for delivering missile strikes against the Syrian government.
Several thousands of militants with heavy weaponry and armored vehicles gave gathered in Syria’s Idlib province to launch an offensive on government-controlled regions of Hama and Aleppo, the head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Sides in Syria, Maj. Gen. Alexei Tsygankov, told reporters on Saturday (August 25).
The Russian official said that more than 70% of the territory of Idlib is now controlled by terrorist groups. The biggest of them is Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, outlawed in Russia).
“Last week, the leader of this terrorist organization, Abu Mohammad al-Julani, urged all Idlib gangs to launch a jihad against the secular Syrian state. The number of proponents of political dialogue, detained and kept in prisons, has topped 500 people. Several thousands of militants with heavy weaponry and armored vehicles have gathered for an offense on Hama and Aleppo,” Tsygankov said.
SPUTNIK NEWS – August 26, 2018: The article highlights that on Saturday (August 26), the Russian Defense Ministry’s spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said that a group of militants, who had been trained by the Olive Group, planned to stage the rescue of the victims of a chemical weapons attack in Idlib.
Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said that according to information received earlier in the day by the Russian Center for Syrian Reconciliation from local residents, foreign English-speaking specialists arrived in the Habit settlement, which is located in the south of the Idlib de-escalation zone, to stage a “chemical attack” using chlorine-filled missiles.
During a staged chemical attacks in Syria, people dressed like White Helmets as part of a plan to film videos clips for the Middle East and English-language media, Russian Defense Ministry’s spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said.
“In the most populated area of Kafr Zita, preparations are being made for a group of residents brought from the north of the province to participate in the staging of an “attack” of allegedly chemical munitions and bombs by Syrian government forces, staged assistance by mimicked ‘rescuers’ from the “White Helmets” and the shooting of video for distribution to the Middle East and English-language media,” he said.
“There are plans to launch rockets carrying poisonous substances on the settlement of Kafr Zita, located 6 km south of Habit, within two days,” he added.
SPUTNIK NEWS – August 26, 2018: The article highlights that the Russian Defense Ministry warned that militants in Idlib may be preparing to stage a chemical weapons attack against the local civilian population and thus create a pretext for a US strike.
The Admiral Grigorovich and the Admiral Essen, two frigates of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, are heading to the Mediterranean Sea in order to bolster Russia’s military presence in the region, according to a statement issued by the Russian Defense Ministry’s press service.
While en route to their final destination, the two vessels reportedly conducted a series of naval exercises, including the detection and tracking of a simulated enemy submersible target.
This development occurred as the Russian Defense Ministry accused the United States, the United Kingdom and France of preparing to carry out new strikes against Syria under the pretext of the Syrian government forces using chemical weapons.
As ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov explained, militants in Idlib province are preparing to stage a false flag chemical weapon attack against civilians in order to blame Damascus, while the United States stands ready to launch a punitive strike against Syria as soon as the necessary pretext becomes available.
“This provocation with the active participation of the British special services will serve as another pretext for the US, UK and France to conduct a missile strike on the Syrian government and infrastructure,” Konashenkov claimed.
Major provocations using chemical weapons planned in Syria – Russia’s Ministry of Defense
TASS – August 27, 2018: The article highlights that a provocation with the use of ammunition with toxic substances will be conducted in Syria in the next two days with the participation of foreign special agents, Major General Igor Konashenkov noted.
Major provocations with the alleged use of chemical weapons are planned in Syria with the participation of foreign specialists, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov told reporters on Sunday.
“According to the information that the Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria received today from the residents of the Idlib, foreign (English-speaking) experts arrived in the Hbit settlement located in the south of the Idlib zone of de-escalation for staging a ‘chemical attack’ using chlorine-loaded missiles,” said he.
“Thus, the interested extra-regional forces are once again preparing major provocations in Syria using poisonous substances to severely destabilize the situation and disrupt the steady dynamics of the ongoing peace process,” Konashenkov noted.
Provocation with the use of ammunition with toxic substances will be conducted in Syria in the next two days with the participation of foreign special agents, Konashenkov told reporters.
“The strike on the settlement of Kafr Zayta from rocket launchers using poisonous substances is planned in the next two days,” he said.
TASS – August 24, 2018: The article highlights that now Russia has to draw its own ‘red lines, according to Vladimir Gutenev.
The US policy of putting pressure on Russia has crossed the “red line,” and Moscow should think about an asymmetric response, such as the deployment of its tactical nuclear weapons abroad, a senior Russian lawmaker told TASS on Friday (August 24).
“I believe that now Russia has to draw its own ‘red lines.’ The time has come to ponder on variants of asymmetric response to the US, which are now being suggested by experts and are intended not only to offset their sanctions but also to do some retaliatory damage,” said Vladimir Gutenev, the first deputy head of the economic policy committee of the State Duma, the lower chamber of the Russian parliament.
Among such measures, the official named the deployment of Russian tactical nuclear weapons in other countries, such as Syria, the use of gold-linked cryptocurrencies for Russian arms exports and the suspension of a number of treaties with the United States, including on non-proliferation of missile technologies.
